So, here we are with 3 months of the year behind us
now. How are you doing with your
goals? There have been a couple of goal
updates here at Western. We are still
focusing on fitness and wanting to make healthy changes in our lives. We have a goal of exceeding our “normal” number
of steps. In other words, just move
more! Get up every hour and walk around
your desk, your office or your floor.
Again, whatever you are doing, try to increase your movement.
February was Heart Disease awareness month and even though
it is no longer February, we still want you to be aware of your heart
health. Sitting is killing us!! Get up!
MOVE!! Think about the activities
you do during the day. What is taking up
the most time? Can you do it
standing? Can you break it up by walking
around? Many of us sit at work all day
long, drive home sitting and sit at our computers or in front of the tv for a
good portion of the evening. Again, just
get up. Set a timer and stand up for 30
seconds every hour at work. Play some of
your favorite tunes on your way home and belt them out, that can burn up to 100
calories depending on your drive. While
watching your shows at night, make a workout routine to the catch phrases or
the character appearances, for example, every time Chandler’s jaw drops, drop
and do 10 push-ups. Or, just set a limit
for yourself, I can only watch this show while I am at the gym or I can only
watch 1 episode and then, I have to walk around the block, etc. It can be different every day just find what
works for you and GET OUT THERE AND MOVE!!
